International Organizations & International Law (IO/IL)
WORKSHOPS
Two workshops are planned for 2009-10 by the International Organizations and International Law working group.
Colloquium on International Organizations and International Law
The first in an annual series of workshops on the globalization of law, this colloquium will bring together scholars working at the intersection of international legal institutions, international arbitration, and transnational regulation.
The colloquium is organized jointly with the American Bar Foundation, the Center on Law and Globalization at the University of Illinois College of Law, and the IO/IL Working Group at the Buffett Center on International and Comparative Studies at Northwestern University. It will take place in September 2009.
Workshop on International Law in its Political Context
In Spring 2010, we will host a workshop on the interaction between international law and the domestic political and social context of countries. The workshop will include legal scholars and social scientists with interests in how states draw on international law and norms to further their goals, and how differences in domestic context shape how international law and institutions work.
