Northwestern Interdisciplinary Law Review (NILR)

Letter from the Editors:

We are excited to take the Northwestern Interdisciplinary Law Review (NILR) into its third year of publication and introduce a new team of editors. During the Review’s inaugural year, a team of undergraduate editors explored the works of talented law students and legal scholars, highlighting articles that apply techniques from the social sciences and humanities to analysis of legal issues. Thanks to the gracious support of faculty, staff and administrators, we are happy to declare the first two volumes a success.

The NILR juxtaposes premier legal scholarship from law students and scholars with fresh thoughts and analysis from Northwestern University undergraduate students. We strive to provide a platform for new ideas and a forum to generate new debates.

Recognizing that the study and practice of law affects all, we publish works that appeal to a broad audience and integrate a variety of related disciplines. While past volumes have featured articles exploring the nexus of law and art theory, law and international relations, and law and sociology, we hope that forthcoming editions will test how legal analysis can bear on contemporary and historical debates.

As we review submissions for the next volume, we invite all students and scholars to consider submitting an article to nilr@northwestern.edu. We favor articles that are accessible to a wide scholarly audience and draw on literature or debates from the humanities and the social sciences.

With the deepest gratitude, the Northwestern Interdisciplinary Law Review would like to thank the thoughtful and intelligent contributors who have supplied its content and enlivened the editorial experience; Rita Koryan and the kind staff at the Buffett Center for International and Comparative Studies who continue to provide invaluable support; our publisher, the Law Review Press; our editorial staff, who have volunteered their time and energy to generate the first interdisciplinary review edited by undergraduates; and Associate Provost Braeutigam and Dean Mary Finn, whose generosity and openness have made this project possible.

The NILR staff remains committed to expanding the body of accessible, interdisciplinary law scholarship. We look forward to new contributions and an exciting year of scholarship.

Interested readers can find past and future editions of the NILR at over ten top law libraries or on-line at www.bcics.northwestern.edu/students/lawreview.html. For a hard copy or a subscription, we invite you to contact us.

Very truly yours,
